Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

For Members and Staff of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Desert

The Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Desert (BGCHD) provides access to computers, the internet, and digital tools to support educational programming, digital literacy, and responsible online behavior. Use of Club technology resources is a privilege—not a right—and is subject to the following policy:

🔐 Purpose

To promote safe, appropriate, and responsible use of technology while supporting the Club’s mission and programming objectives.

✅ Acceptable Use

Members and staff may use technology for:

  • Educational activities and homework

  • Career exploration and digital skill-building

  • Approved online learning programs

  • Research and project development

🚫 Unacceptable Use

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Accessing, downloading, or sharing explicit or inappropriate content

  • Harassing, bullying, or threatening others online or through digital platforms

  • Damaging, altering, or disrupting Club hardware, software, or networks

  • Using another person’s login credentials

  • Bypassing security filters or using proxy websites

  • Participating in illegal activities or sharing illegal content

  • Taking photos or video of others without permission

  • Using technology for commercial, political, or non-Club-related purposes

🔒 Privacy and Monitoring

Members should have no expectation of privacy when using Club technology. Staff may review files, activity, or communications at any time to ensure compliance with this policy.

📷 Personal Devices

  • Personal phones and tablets must be stored away unless permitted during designated tech time or in approved areas.

  • Members may only use personal devices in the lobby or Teen Center, with permission.

  • Unauthorized use may result in confiscation until parent/guardian pickup.

🧑‍⚖️ Consequences for Violations

Violations of this AUP may result in:

  • Suspension or revocation of device or internet access

  • Parent notification and incident reporting

  • Disciplinary action including suspension or expulsion from the Club

  • Law enforcement involvement when appropriate
